zoya nail polish petra

This is the second Zoya nail polish on my blog so far. Actually I had only one Zoya in my collection until I was sent Petra for review.

The polish comes from Zoya Smoke and Mirrows collection for Fall 2011. Petra belongs to a group of those complex colors, that are not so easy to describe. I see it as a muted purple with a healthy doze of smoky grey. On my nails it’s applied in 2 coats, without base or top coaters.

I chose Petra because I wanted a dupe for one of my favourite purple cremes – Rimmel Sir, Yes Sir! I love that Rimmel, but Zoya’s formula seems much more attractive to me as it contains no formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate or camphor.

Zoya Naturel 3 Collection Swatches & Review

Petra and Sir, Yes Sir! do look alike in the bottles but on my nails and swatch sticks they are different. Zoya is darker and surprisingly it has some brown (?) notes. Here’s a comparison I made:

In the bright artificial light or in the sun the difference between Jacques and Petra is more visible, Petra becomes lighter and “purpler”, just like it is in the bottle.

The quality of Zoya nail polishes is really very good, I would have had more of them if only I knew where to buy them at reasonable price. I know only 2-3 places here in Saint Petersburg where they sell Zoya, and the prices are very high.

Zoya Natural Nail Polish, Petra, 0.5 Fl Oz

I got Petra from the Beyond Polish online store. There they have Zoya polishes for as low as $6, 50 per bottle. This sounds like a great deal, isn’t it? :) There’re also some other well known nail polish brands there including OPI, China Glaze, Essie, CND etc, so next week I’ll be posting more beautiful colors I got from Beyond Polish.

… and if you haven’t yet clicked the link to Beyond Polish, let me tell you that currently they are having a big Christmas giveaway with a prize worth $70 of nail polishes (USA entry only), so be sure to click here for more info.
